Making Curtains (Unlined)

Unlined curtains are ideally used in rooms where they may need regular washing, like bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. You will need to use washable fabric such as our French Connection 100% cotton fabric.

  1. Turn, press and pin a double hem of 2cm along both side edges of each curtain. Machine.
  1. Press a 5cm fold of fabric along the top of the curtain, to wrong side. Pin vertically. Measure from the top to your required length and make a hem, turning the edge in. Press and pin. Hand hem or machine.
  1. Prepare one end of the curtain tape appropriate to which side of the curtain you attempt first - leading edge or outside edge. Cut tape to width of curtain plus 5cm. Knot cords together on wrong side of tape at one end. Turn tape under at both ends. Machine.

  1. Press curtains and pull the 3 strings in the tape forming attractive pencil pleats. Tie the ends and hide behind curtains. Hang curtains to pole with hooks.
