Making Tab-Top Curtains (Unlined)
Amount
of fabric required:
The finished length of curtain + 17cm for hem & turnings + 8cm
facing strip + 20cm for 7
tabs.

Method of making 7 tabs:
Cut out tabs, curtain and facing according to lay out plan.

- (a) Make each tab by folding fabric R.S. to R.S. along the longest
side. Machine a 1.5cm seam. (b) Press seam open. (c) Turn to R.S and
press as shown.

| Curtain Sides and Hem |
|
- At each side of curtain turn and pin a double hem of 5cm
in total. Hand stitch or machine down both sides. Press.

- Along bottom of curtain turn under a double hem 15cm in
all. Pin and either hand or machine sew along hem. Press.

- Fold tab in half and space all 7 tabs evenly along top
of curtain as shown. Machine across.

Facing
|
|
- Press under 1.5cm along top edge of facing.
|

- Place facing R.S. to R.S. along top of curtain. Pin and
machine.
|

|
- Turn facing to W.S. and pin and hand sew or machine
along previously folded edge. Tuck in edges at either end and sew.
Machine along top of facing, as a reinforcement if preferred.

- Sew down each tab and embellish with your choice of
trims. Thread through pole (don't forget to leave one tab behind the
bracket!).
