How to Make an Informal Swag Pelmet

Amount of fabric required:
To estimate the amount of fabric required, drape a piece of tape or string over the holdbacks or sconces that will be used to support the swag. This will be the length of the fabric required, but remember to add an extra 5 cm for turnings.
Trimmings:
The trimmings will be sewn along the two short sides and one long side.

  1. Spread out the lining and fabric on top of each other, right side to right side. Put pins in a number of places to keep fabrics together.
  1. Machine all round the fabric, 1.5cm from edge leaving a gap of about 30cm in one edge.

  1. Trim corners to reduce bulk.
  1. Take out pins and pull fabric through the gap to reveal the right side.
  1. Carefully make the corners square and press well.
  1. Hand sew gap together.
  1. Machine trimmings to the three sides leaving the back of the swag pelmet 'untrimmed'.

  1. Drape over the holdbacks or sconces and arrange swag pelmet to your tastes.
Ideas:
Use fabric insert holdbacks to match or contrast the swag pelmet.
