How to Fit a Baypole

  1. Part assemble brackets. Bolt oval plate (1) to 'tee arm' (2) using bolt and washer (4). The oval plate may be inline or at right angles to the tee arm to suit fixing or preference. Tighten firmly with socket spanner.
  1. Fit brackets to bay. Three brackets are required for most bays - one central and one at each side. We recommend no more than 2 metres between brackets. Position central bracket on wall or frame with the tee arm (2) horizontal and mark position of fixing holes. Pilot drill or drill and plug if fixing to masonry. Fix brackets securely with screws (5). Similarly fit end brackets level with centre bracket.
Ceiling fixing: Ensure that fixings penetrate ceiling material and into joists that will take the load.
  1. Measure baypole: Using straight edge and pencil lightly mark on the ceiling the intersecting points of the corners 85mm away from the wall
Measure and note lengths between the intersecting points. Deduct 35mm from each end that will be entering a sleeve of a corner fitting. Mark all these lengths on the poles prior to cutting to ensure the best combination of cut lengths for minimum wastage. Cut poles to length.
  1. Assemble baypole: Lay cut lengths on flat surface such as the floor in their correct order and approximate shape of the bay.
  1. Spring open and slide a bracket clamp (3) onto the middle pole. With the corner fittings set straight, check that the screw inside each sleeve is central within the sleeve and check fulcrum screws are tight. Align and insert a pole into the sprung sleeve, push and turn the pole or corner hinge clockwise until screwed home. Repeat for all corners. Note we recommend that the pole ends should be pilot drilled.
  1. Check the vertical alignment of the assembled baypole by slackening the fulcrum screws and moving the corners to almost 90 degrees. All sections should be laying flat. Adjust as necessary by rotating the poles.
  1. With the poles laying flat, pinch the corner sleeve fittings tight around the pole and insert the pozidrive screws.
  1. With the corner fittings straight, slide the plastic corner guides between the raised sleeve flaps and plug firmly together at the centre. Locate the small U clip central within the casting slot and press it firmly down with the guide tongue. Position the assembly to the approximate shape of the bay window and slightly tighten the fulcrum screws. Pin the ends of the plastic guides to the rear and 35mm from the top of the pole with the gimp pins.
  1. Slide the curtain rings onto the pole. Slide the end bracket clamps on, then slide on one ring from each side. Finally, fit the finials.
  1. Fitting the baypole: Lift the whole assembly into place - you may need assistance. Locate the centre clamp onto the centre bracket tee bar, align holes and fit screws, nuts and washers loosely. Repeat for end brackets.
Adjust the pole to centre and parallel with the wall or window. Tighten the centre bracket clamp firmly.
Firmly tighten the corner hinge fulcrum screws to lock the angles. The installation should now be rigid.
